Madam Silk Skin

Inside a dark room lined with wooden bookshelves and brown leather chairs sits a man in a double breasted black suit, across from him is a man whose suit is wearing him. The man is struggling to make eye contact with the intimidating gentleman behind the desk. The little man has asked The Godfather for a favour, but as always, the Head Mobster wishes for something in return.

“I have a daughter that can please any man in such a way that they have never felt before.” The baker said to the man to make himself sound important.

“Now if this is true, we have ourselves a deal. Bring your daughter to my house tonight and I can see if what you’re stating is fact.”

When the daughter arrived, The Godfather lead her to a garden house. “In a few hours I will send one of my men in, show him what you can do. I will not lie with just any woman.” He said, locking the door behind him as he left. The woman lay on the bed and cried. “How can I possibly manage this?” She said to herself, “I’ve never been with a man before, and if I don’t come through, they’ll kill me for certain.” As she cried into the pillow, the lock on the door turned, and in walked a beautiful woman. “Hello young girl, why are you crying so?”

“Oh hello,” answered the girl, “I have to please a man better than he has ever been pleased before or The Godfather will have my head. I haven’t a clue how to do it.”

“What will you give me,” said the woman, “if I do it for you. I have been a lady of the night for many years and know everything one can about men.”

“My necklace,” Replied the girl excitedly. As the woman inspected the gold family heirloom, she agreed. “Now, go hide in the closet and do not show yourself till morning.” The girl complied.

And sure enough by morning the man had left very satisfied, and the woman had disappeared as strangely as she had arrived. The next night The Godfather entered again, “my friend was very happy with your services last night. There is so much talk that a few more of my men would like to see it for themselves. In a few hours, five more men will come knocking, do not disappoint them.” Again, the girl collapsed on the bed in tears, and it wasn’t long before the woman let herself in. “Mam, you have to help me. Even more men are coming tonight, and I just can’t do it.” Says the girl in a panic.

“What do you have for me this evening?” Replies the woman.

“Take my ring, please.”

The woman complies as the girl hides herself in the closet once more. The five men enter, and leave many hours later, very pleased. The woman leaves again, and the girl emerges from the closet.

The next day The Godfather enters again, only this time he gives a different demand before he leaves. “Tonight, I shall have you myself, and if what my men say is true, we shall marry.” The girl cries harder than she ever has, and for the last time the woman enters. “Why do you cry so young girl?” She says with a soft voice.

“Tonight I need to please The Godfather, and you cannot do it because he’ll realise you’re not me. There’s nothing I can do!” Exclaims the girl.

“What if I were to help you escape from this place? And kill that disgusting old man so he will not come searching for you. What will you give me then?”

“I have nothing left to give, that ring and necklace were my only two possessions.” Says the girl in a defeated tone.

“What about your first-born child? I could never have children and have always wanted one of my own.”

“Yes anything,” the girl replies exited. She hasn’t thought of the future, she just wants to leave this dreadful place.

“Okay then,” Says the woman as she opens the door to leave, “you go into those woods there, hide behind the large oak tree. I’ll go up to the main house and return shortly.” The girl agrees and waits patiently as the woman runs up to the house. Not many minuets pass before she returns with blood on her hands. Together they run into the woods towards the town, not exchanging so much as a word.

Many years have passed and the young girl has grown into a woman, she has even married and had her first-born the previous night, a healthy baby boy. The mother is holding her child when her door flies open, in walks the woman she had known from a life she wishes to forget. “I have come to collect what you have promised me.” She states.

The mother is horrified, she offers the woman anything else, but she won’t accept. “I came for the child, but I will make a deal with you. I shall give you two days, and if by the end of those two days you can tell me my name, you may keep your son.” And with that she left.

The mother searches the internet far and wide, getting lists of every known woman’s name. She reads all the baby books she can find and even gets all the stage names from escort sights. She has truly found every possible name and stayed awake searching for 24 hours. That is when the door swings open again and in walks the woman. The mother begins listing off the names on her list as quick as she can, “Jan, Taylor, Candice.”

“That’s not my name.” Replies the woman with a laugh.

“Celeste, Scarlett, Phillis.”

“Still not my name.”

“Sugar, Candy, Cinnamon.”

“Wong again girl, none of those are my name.” The mother reaches the end of her list with tears rolling down her face.

“I’ll see you in 24 hours, good luck,” the woman laughs as she leaves.

The mother, unable to find any new names anywhere, decides to go to a bar and drink her sorrows. In the mix of vodka and cigarettes she accidently finds herself in the men’s bathroom. As she realises the mistake she made, she sees something written on the wall, For a good time call Madam Silk Skin, followed by a phone number. Knowing she won’t be able to remember this in the morning, she decided to take a photo with her phone before leaving for home.

She wakes up with her head pounding and her phone in her hand. As she unlocks it she remembers the photo she took and a wake of joy washes over her. Not seconds later the door opens again and in walks the woman. “Care to take another guess for my name?” She says with a smirk.

“In fact I do,” replies the mother, “I believe you name may be, Madam Silk Skin.”

The woman is so shocked she can’t move. “What, how did you know that, that’s impossible!” She yells, her anger rising. “I’m still going to take your child!” She screams as she runs at the mother in anger, the mother drops to the ground, causing the woman to trip over her and crack her head open on the corner of the bed, she dies instantly.
